Privacy at BetterPaper
Short version: we keep what we need to help you plan your writing, we delete what we can on a schedule, and we never sell or share your work.
What we store
- Your email address.
- Your date of birth (so we can confirm you are 13 or older).
- The assignment text you paste in.
- The briefs, theses, outlines, and evidence plans we generate from that assignment.
- Time stamps for when you used the tool.
What we never store in error reports
When something breaks on BetterPaper, we get an automatic crash report so we can fix it. Before that report leaves our servers, we strip out the text of your assignment and any rubric you pasted. Our crash reports carry the fact that an error happened, not what you were working on.
What we delete automatically
- If you use the homepage without an account, we delete your assignment after 7 days.
- If you delete an assignment from your dashboard, it sits in "Recently deleted" for 30 days — then it is gone for good.
How to delete your account
Go to Account → Delete account. We immediately delete every assignment, brief, thesis, outline, and evidence plan we ever made for you. We delete your account record too. There is no waiting period and no recovery — your stuff is gone.
Who reads your work
Only you. We do not share your writing with advertisers, other students, teachers, schools, or any third party. We do not train our AI models on your writing. Our team reads anonymized samples only when we are investigating a specific bug you reported.
